Toe in the Water are a charity very close to our hearts. They do amazing work for injured servicemen and so we’re delighted to be working with them for all their creative and design needs.
Toe in the water inspire the men and women who have sustained traumatic injuries and loss of limbs to rehabilitate and become re-inspired by life. Most of which takes place on the water through competitive sailing on equal terms with able bodied competitors.
“Toe in the Water is about adapting to the challenge, not the challenge adapting to you” Lieutenant Colonel John Etherington, RAMC Clinical Director, DMRC, Headley court.
Locker Room have a few keen sailors in the office, (not least the four of us who have been battling it out in the Barcelona World Race, yes a computer game) having worked with Team Pindar and Alex Thomson Racing as well as current incumbent client Musto, the leading provider of technical sailing wear.
Last week we helped to put on a charity golf day aimed at raising funds for Toe in the Water. Locker Room’s managing director Justin Brookfield had the pleasure of playing 18 holes with one of injured service men that has been through the Toe in the Water programme, Chris Herbert. Chris lost his leg on duty in Afghanistan a few years ago but that didn’t stop him putting up an impressive performance on the golf course. We’re pretty sure Chris shot a lower score, but Justin is keeping his score card to himself! With a raffle and auction fund raiser in the club house afterwards it was a successful day where Toe in the Water were able to raise £5,000, so many thanks to all involved.
The Toe in the Water team are now preparing for the next round of summer regattas with Plymouth, Cowes and the Jersey regatta.
