Can England retain the Ashes and bring the urn home?

We’re now less than a week away from the beginning of the greatest cricket test series in the world as England travel to Australia to defend The Ashes. Andrew Strauss’ men won back the little urn last year in dramatic fashion, defeating their Australia counterparts 2-1. Since then, England have continued on their upward momentum, [...]

How you can win MILLIONS on the World Cup

First of all, a confession… I don’t know exactly HOW you can win millions on the World Cup but I can point you in the directions of the websites where you can have a go at doing just that!
With the opening ceremony of the 2010 World Cup from South Africa now just days away, a [...]

Stand on one foot if you think we’re heading for a Hung Parliament…

First of all, an apology. I got the score wrong in the Barcelona game from last week’s blog. Hopefully, it didn’t encourage anyone to actually have a bet on it. At least the outcome was the same! So to the last week in politics and it’s been all about one person this week and it’s [...]

Hung out to dry?

Well, there I was, with 3D Specs in hand, waiting for the start of the 2nd Live Debate and then I found out that the only alternative way of watching the debate on SKY was in HD! Clearly they didn’t get my email from last week. Speaking of last week, since the 1st debate last [...]

“What the hell is a quango?!”

Right, first of all, a confession… I’ve never really taken much of an interest in politics which is clearly shown in the title to this blog (“What the hell is a quango?” was a question I was asking myself every time David Cameron mentioned “quangos” last night. In the end, I Googled it). But, after [...]

They’re Under Starters Orders

…AND they’re almost off! It’s the Grand National tomorrow, a race where you’ll probably end up having a bet (and winning some money) based on which horse has the funniest name/closet name to yours/name that means something (*delete whatever reason doesn’t apply to you.) Although not the greatest race in Britain, the National is popular [...]

Wanna Bet?

After nine months with Locker Room it has occurred to me that one can bet on pretty much anything… I was aware of the horses, figured it must also work for football, but didn’t quite realise the British gambling-spirit would go as far as EastEnders.
It might be that I’m foreign (it might be that I’m [...]

Henry out of the World Cup!

Henry out of the World Cup!

Here at Lockerroom, we love our sport… So when an interesting article came out last week about one of the most gifted footballers of the last few years being out of the biggest football competition in the World, then our ears naturally pricked up! Not to mention the fact that the article concerned one of our own clients (but more on that later!).

The headline: “Henry out of World Cup!” was enough to attract our interest. It was Henry after all who “handed” France a place in this summer’s World Cup when he set up William Gallas to score against Ireland in last year’s playoffs. The incident was World news for weeks with Ireland even going as far as asking FIFA for a prestigious 33rd place in South Africa as compensation.
