Locker Room songs of 2010
We like our music here in the Locker Room office and most of the time the office Spotify account plays some pretty well selected music, or so I like to think. It does also get some horrendous rubbish played when Charlene gets anywhere near it, like today.
However during one of the many music related conversations that Duncan and I have in the office, we felt it would be the right thing to draw up a “songs of 2010” playlist. And now you’re reading the blog that I have written about it!
I asked all the staff in the office to send me their top five tracks of 2010 so I could spend my evening sifting through them and organising them into a playlist. 2010 in my opinion was a fairly average year for new music but there are a few gems out there.
The original plan was to keep to the list and not remove anything, thus giving readers a real feel for what our team felt were the songs of 2010. But I couldn’t stick to this. Sorry team. I love creating play lists, but this really was a painful experience. We are however left with an OK set of songs, most of which I think are pretty obvious.
Below you’ll find details of the songs and some snippets from the Locker Room staff, as well as a link to the playlist.
1. Arcade Fire – Ready To Start
(Adam “amazing to hear this track live at Reading”) – Removed, not available on spotify (good start)!
2. Eliza Doolittle – Pack Up (Iain “some of that Eliza Doolitle sh!t”)
3. Two Door Cinema Club – Undercover Martyn (Fraser “Recommendation from Pete – Great band”)
4. Dizee Rascal – Dirtee Disco
5. Caribou – Sun
6. Warpaint – Warpaint
7. Chase & Status – let you go

(Check out our blog post about how Google used this song to promote Chrome ) – Removed, not available on spotify!

11. Janelle Monae – Tightrope
12. Faithless – Not Going Home
13. Rusko – Da Cali Anthem
(Fraser “I asked my mother who my father was, she replied “Dubstep”) – Removed, not available on spotify!
14. Tinie Tempah – Pass out
15. Swedish House Mafia – ‘One’ (Fraser (Absolute classic, ‘nuff said”)
16. Kanye West – Runaway
17. Eminem & Rihanna – Love the way you lie
18. Mumford & Sons – White Blank Page
19. Foals – Blue Blood
20. Plan B – Prayin
21. Yeasayer – O.N.E

23. Groove Armada – Shameless
24. The Foals – Spanish Sahara
25. Ellie Goulding – Guns and Horses
26. Paloma Faith – New York
27. Caitlin Rose – Shanghai Cigarettes
28. The National – England
29. Lissie – Everywhere I go
30. LCD Soundsystem – All I Want
31. Biffy Clyro – Many Of Horror (Chloe “Beautiful song and Matt Cardle version is nearly as good”)
“Was Three Lions by Baddiel & Skinner last year?” – From an out of touch Justin!
I have to add that this should have been a really fun job compiling the best songs of 2010. But it seems that there was very little good music in 2010, or our staff have bad taste in music. This was painful but I’m sure you’re happy I have removed the several Black Eyed Peas tracks that were put forward!
Happy Listening
